Despite rainy weather, Somerville Open Studios was a hit! I sold lots of notecards and some postcards, and I received very encouraging feedback.
Also, a few days after SOS I got an e-mail from Boston Coasters saying that they were interested in adding my animal drawings to their site. It's a very cool company that sells local artists' work printed on all sorts of things like messenger bags, mouse pads, serving trays, t-shirts, and, of course, coasters. In addition to selling the merchandise online, they have a store at 12 Bow Street in Harvard Square, and they also distribute to The Barn & Co., The Boston Historical Society, Brookline Booksmith, Davis Squared, Harvard Book Store, Magpie, Newbury Comics, and Whole Foods Market. Very exciting!

SOS, Flickr, stolen item

Somerville Open Studios is this weekend! I will be at #109 on the map, Saturday and Sunday (May 3rd and 4th) from 12-6 pm. I'll be selling notecards and art prints, and larger art prints of my work will be available at Fine Utility at Joy Street Studios.

In other news, I opened up a Flickr account where I have been posting my most recent drawings.

Also, one of my sets of notecards was apparently stolen from Porter Square Books! So they moved the remaining sets up closer to the register (to the Mothers' Day display!).

Back from Paris, Porter Square Books agreed to consign a few boxes of my notecards to see if they sell!

I bought a roll of watercolor paper yesterday, and I'm going to start experimenting with larger drawings.

I'm leaving for Paris on Thursday! I'm coming back on March 23rd, and then I'll have a little over a month to prepare for Open Studios.

Keeping up...

I'm back at my apartment, and 15 new sets of notecards were delivered while I was away! So I packaged all of those, and after filling my back-orders, I have 4 sets left. More on their way. I think I may just order a ton and hope that I can sell them eventually.

Drawing lots of self-portraits from life, but I do have some photos I'm interested in drawing.

In print

I picked up my art prints today! Well, first I spent two and a half hours cutting them, and I (magically) only ruined one print of "Turkeys" during the cutting process...

They came out really beautifully! The paper is heavy and textured, and it just feels really nice. The blown up version of "Birds in Flight" looks kind of lackluster, so I got to take it home for free. I want to hang it up in my apartment to be bold and arty.
